Southgate Eye Care is looking to add an optician to our team!

This is a part time position, Wednesday and Friday, in Dundalk, ON.

There is the potential of adding additional days at our office in Markdale, and, as our Dundalk location expands.

Job responsibilities include:

• selecting and dispensing appropriate eyewear to patients
• meeting with lens and frame reps to select new products
• contact lens teach appointments
• appointment scheduling and pretesting as needed (this is typically done by optometric assistants)

Here's what the role looks like:

• Greet patients
• Analyze patient's optical and eyeglass prescription
• Assist patients in their choice of frames and optical products
• Ensure measurements, comfort and adjustment of patients' eyeglasses
• Provide advice on the care and handling of contact lenses and optical products
• Verify, cut and mount ophthalmic lenses in our optical laboratory
• Verify, validate and track supplier orders
• Resolve optical problems, repair eyeglasses and provide after-sales service
• Meet with optical representatives
• Manage credits and returns
• Manage inventories
• Perform other related tasks

Desired profile

• Optician or student in Optics and Eyewear or Diploma of dispensing optician / Optics and Eyewear
• Member of the Ordre des opticiens d'ordonnances du Québec
• Communication skills (French and English, verbal and written)
• Autonomy
• Effective management of priorities
• Punctuality
• Professionalism
• Team spirit
• Experience in optics and customer service, an asset

• Assist patients with frame and lens selection, based on lifestyle and visual needs
• Measure, fit, and adjust eyewear for optimal vision and comfort
• Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and proper eyewear care
• Process and manage eyewear orders accurately and efficiently
• Maintain dispensary inventory and support daily operations
• Deliver friendly, knowledgeable, patient-centered service

Qualifications:

• Licensed optician
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to patient satisfaction
• Comfortable with optical software and modern lens technologies
