JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is an opportunity to work in a new modern clinical setting focused on comprehensive vision care as well as specialized NeuroVisual optometry services. Our Mississauga location includes an on-site optical laboratory, providing a collaborative environment for dispensing, adjustments, repairs, and efficient patient service. Summary/Objective 

The dispensing optician assists patients in selecting the proper lenses and frames as prescribed by the doctor. This person is familiar with all frames carried by the practice and the various lens materials and options available.  This person is also fully aware of every insurance the practice accepts and is able to explain insurance benefits to patients.

Essential Functions

1.     Assists patients with frame and lens selections, coating options, repairs and adjustments

2.     Educates patients on lens and frame options in relation to lifestyle needs, trains patients on care of eyewear

3.     Provides benefits counseling

4.     Assists with frame board management; enters frames into inventory, helps choose frame lines

5.     Maintains the appearance of the dispensary, responsible for dispensing equipment and supply levels, organizes product literature

6.     Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

7.     Informs patients to notify them glasses are ready to be picked up.

4.     Knowledge of what insurance plans the practice accepts:  The employee is able to counsel patient on their benefits and answer questions about eligibility, deductibles and coverage.

Qualifications

1.     Licensed Optician eligible to work in Ontario; possessing a firm grasp on current fashion trends, and having a good balance of assertive sales techniques with the ability to teach patients the value of the lens options recommended by the doctor for their lifestyle

2.     Fluent English is required; Ukrainian language skills are strongly preferred

3.     Must have computer skills and the ability to learn EMR system 

4.     Strong ability to multi-task with high degree of accuracy, attention to detail a must

5.     Excellent customer service

6.     Strong analytical and problem solving skills

7.     Superior verbal and written skills

8.     Strong interpersonal skills essential
