Core Responsibilities

  • Assessing patient needs and recommending frame and lens selections based on appearance, lifestyle and prescription requirements
  • Educating patients about types of lenses and lens enhancements
  • Properly fitting new glasses
  • Adjusting and repairing of frames as needed
  • Supporting doctors by facilitating pre-exam testing, retinal imaging and peripheral vision testing, etc
  • Answering telephones, booking and confirmation of appointments

Required Qualifications

  • Experience dispensing single vision and multi-focal eyeglasses
  • Proficiency with tools and methods for eyeglass adjustment and repair
  • Experience in consultative (needs-based) sales, with a proven record of success
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with patients
  • An eye for fashion and style
  • General proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office
  • Strong problem-solving and customer relationship skills
  • Aptitude for basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions)

Full time office manager position in desirable Nelson, BC! Our office is looking for a manager with experience in an optical setting. Office manager will be responsible for:

-Upholding our office’s core values of respect, knowledge, and accountability

-Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure that staff are completing their tasks in an appropriate and timely fashion

-Conduct monthly one-on-one meetings with each of our 3 full time staff members to ensure employee satisfaction and touch base on job performance

-Coordinate excellent patient care with our Front Desk Lead and Owner Optometrist

In addition to management responsibilities, we are a small team so the manager will be expected to fill in with routine patient care when other staff members are unable.

Hourly rate between $25-$35/hr depending on experience.

8hr shifts between 8am-5pm Mon-Fri.

Qualifications:

·      Previous experience as an optician or in optical sales is ideal with preference given to those with knowledge of lens materials, coatings and current eyewear trends (or desire and drive to learn)

·      A professional demeanor and caring approach with people

  • Dispense, fit, and adjust eyewear, as well as perform minor repairs.
  • Provide instruction and support for contact lens wear and care (experience in this area is considered an asset).
  • Contribute to merchandising and presentation of the optical boutique, maintaining a polished and inviting environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold clinical standards and professional guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure in good standing with the College of Opticians of Ontario.
  • Strong technical expertise in measurements, adjustments, and quality control.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to patient care and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while demonstrating autonomy and precision.
  • Bilingual skills (English required; French an asset).
  • Experience with contact lenses and electronic medical record systems is an advantage.
